Welcome to New Horizon Academy, Boca Raton’s premier alternative middle and high school. We welcome students who seek an alternative to larger schools. Our small size allows us to appreciate our students as individuals, to create an educational program that meets a student’s specific needs, and to make school a relaxed, enjoyable experience.

Who we are

New Horizon Academy is an alternative middle and high school in Boca Raton, Florida. We teach the traditional curricula, but do so in a non-traditional setting.  Our students get ample personal attention and enjoy a comfortable environment. We value each student as an individual, and we tailor our approach to fit the needs of each student.

 

Our Beliefs

We believe that our students learn best when we balance ample personal attention with the dynamics of a traditional classroom.

We believe that a comfortable environment supports learning and growth.

We believe that students should be understood and respected as individuals.

Our Methods

We achieve our goals in several ways.

First and foremost, we have highly skilled teachers who are dedicated to the success of each student.

Second, students are taught in small classrooms; our typical student/teacher ratio is 5:1.

Third, we help students follow an individual pathway that leads to their success.

 

Student Profile

What kinds of students do well at New Horizon Academy? The short answer is, “Students who thrive when they are in small classes where they get lots of personal attention.”

We have some students with learning disabilities like dyslexia; others have processing disorders. Some have ADD or ADHD; they can stay focused in a smaller class. We have a few with Asperger’s and milder forms of autism; they not only get academic support, they get to enjoy a very welcoming and comfortable social atmosphere. Some of our students are just “reluctant learners,” or kids who simply kids who do not like school.

When placed in a comfortable environment where they get personal attention, our students can focus on their studies, improve their grades and self-confidence, and  enjoy school as a fun experience.
