Who we are
New Horizon Academy is an alternative middle and high school in Boca Raton, Florida. We teach the traditional curricula, but do so in a non-traditional setting. Our students get ample personal attention and enjoy a supportive environment. We value each student as an individual, and we tailor our approach to fit the needs of each student.
We believe that our students learn best when we balance personal attention with the dynamics of a traditional classroom.
We believe that a supportive environment leads to learning and growth.
We believe that students should be understood and respected as individuals.
We achieve our goals in several ways.
First and foremost, we have highly skilled teachers who are dedicated to the success of each student.
Second, students are taught in small classrooms; our typical student/teacher ratio is 5:1.
Third, we help students follow an individual pathway that leads to their success.
What kinds of students do well at New Horizon Academy? The short answer is, “Students who thrive when they are in small classes where they get personal attention.”
We have some students with learning disabilities like dyslexia; others have processing disorders. Some have ADD or ADHD; they can stay focused in a smaller class. We have a few with Asperger’s and milder forms of autism; they not only get academic support, they get to enjoy a welcoming and comfortable social atmosphere. Some of our students are just “reluctant learners,” or children who simply do not like school.
When placed in a supportive environment where they get personal attention, our students can focus on their studies, improve their grades and self-confidence, and enjoy success.
